Tours through the Hoover Dam and Power Plant started in 1937. Today, close to 1,000,000 visitors per year take the tour and millions more drive across the dam. The dam is located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas on US Highway 93 at the Nevada- Arizona border. The Lake Mead National Recreation Area offers tours of Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the United States.
